What Are The Treatment Options In Prosthodontics?
Fixed Prostheses: It is used for the teeth that do not have sufficient dental tissues support and have a large amount of loss which cannot be treated with filling material, inlay, onlay restorations that involve a part of the tooth can be done by reducing the entire tooth and it is done according to the extent of the tissue loss or crown restoration. In cases where one or more teeth are missing, prostheses on both sides of the cavity are bridge prostheses, where the teeth on both sides are reduced and used as support. Changes in people’s social lives, advanced technology in dentistry, and advances in prosthetic treatments have increased the aesthetic and functional expectations of patients and raised their living standards. Especially with the increase of aesthetic expectation, metal alloys used in infrastructure have been replaced by superior aesthetic and biocompatible materials.
Zirconium Restorations: These are high resistant, biocompatible, durable, and aesthetic restorations. The fact that zirconium oxide is a material close to the natural tooth color and remains at least as durable against forces has made the use of zirconium ceramics common in fixed and over-implant prostheses.
All-ceramic prostheses: They are all-ceramic restorations with increased durability and very good light transmittance, without the use of infrastructure materials such as metal or zirconium oxide.
Laminate Restorations: These are very aesthetic restorations that are close to natural teeth obtained by adhering to the porcelain in the form of leaves obtained as a result of minimal abrasion of the tooth surface in order to treat the shape, color, form, and size disorders in the teeth.
What are Removable Dentures?
In cases where there is a natural tooth but there is not enough support for the fixed prosthesis, the prostheses made with the support of both teeth and tissues and can be inserted and removed by the patient are partial prostheses. In partial dentures, metal parts extended on natural teeth to get support from teeth disrupts the aesthetic appearance. Precision attachment prostheses are used to eliminate this negativity.
What are Implant Prosthetics?
Prostheses are made of supportive implants instead of natural teeth
Fixed prostheses on implants: They are crown or bridge prostheses that are made with support from one or more implants, used fixedly by gluing or screwing. It prevents damage to the adjacent healthy teeth by placing them in the missing area, especially in the case of missing teeth. These prostheses can be made of metal-ceramic, zirconium, or full ceramic materials.
Removable dentures on implants: Removable dentures on implants are a form of treatment with two, three, or four implants placed in the jaw bone in case of complete edentulous. These prostheses are both implants and prostheses supported by tissues. These prostheses eliminate the problem of displacement of removable prostheses, especially thanks to implants.
Hybrid prostheses: The rapid development in implant technology and the widespread use of implant treatment have provided patients using removable prostheses with the comfort of changing to a fixed prosthesis. With these implant-supported prostheses, called hybrid prostheses, patients with severe bone loss are also provided with a prosthesis. Hybrid prostheses are prostheses that cannot be removed by the patient but can be removed by the doctor when necessary.
